  • 2nd Trimester Award Assemblies are scheduled as follows:
    • 1st Grade: Wednesday, March 16th @ 9:15 am
    • 2nd Grade: Wednesday, Marcy 16th @ 10:00 am
    • 3rd Grade: Thursday, March 17th @ 9:15 am
    • 4th Grade: Thursday, March 17th @ 10:00 am
    • 5th Grade: Friday, March 18th @ 9:20 am

Think Together will be hosting a kickball game against Box Springs Elementary on March 16th from 3:00-5:30 pm. The dance team will perform as well! Bring your family and help support our Seneca Stars!

PTA Association meeting and 2016-2017 executive board elections are scheduled for March 17th at 5:00 pm. PTA members are encouraged to attend the association meeting and cast votes to elect the new PTA executive board for the 2016-2017 school year.

Open House is scheduled for March 17th at 5:30 pm. Come visit your child’s classroom and see what they’ve been working on this year! Also, the Book Fair will be open as well as food available for purchase during Open House.

Seneca Elementary PTA continues to thank all families for their support in the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House Pennies from the Heart and Pull Tabs programs. Seneca stars have collected over 65,000 pull tabs and have raised over $450 in pennies since the start of the program. Congratulations to Miss Dixon’s class for being the 2nd trimester school leaders in Pennies from the Heart. Miss Dixon’s class collected approximately $60 in pennies. Great job!

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House will be hosting a “Walk for Kids” 5K event on April 3, 2016 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA to shed light on what the Ronald McDonald House does for so many families. There will be resource booths and a kid’s zone and plenty of fun for everyone. Come out and earn miles towards 100-Mile Club!

If you are interested in participating in this event, please register online at walkforkids.org/lomalinda. Registration is free for children under 18 and $25 for adults (includes a Walk for Kids T-shirt).

Continue to check the leaderboard in the MPR for current grade level and classroom leaders for Pennies from the Heart and Pull Tabs program participation.

Rubidoux on Saturday, January 30th.  We had over 280 people RSVP for the event!  Our Seneca Stars are doing an amazing job in earning miles towards their 100-Mile Club goals! Please be sure to turn in your child’s participation card to his/her teacher for credit.

Yearbook Picture Day is scheduled for February 8th.  Flyers will be coming home soon.  If you are interested in helping out for picture day, please sign up on Volunteer Spot.

February 26th is a minimum day and the end of the second trimester.  Students will be dismissed at 12:25 pm.

February 28th is “A Day in Troy,” an event taking place at USC for students throughout Southern California, including Seneca students and their families. If you are interested in attending, please secure your tickets with Mr. Gallegos before February 19th.

Open House and the next PTA association meeting is scheduled for March 17th. New PTA executive board members will be elected at this meeting. Please mark your calendars and cast your votes.

Hike to Mt. Rubidoux

Seneca Families,

Please join us in earning miles towards 100-Mile Club by taking a hike to Mt. Rubidoux this Saturday, January 30th!  PTA will be providing snacks at the base of the mountain before the hike begins at 8:30 am.  Students will receive a special 100-Mile Club card once they reach the top of the mountain to submit to their teachers for credit towards their 100-Mile Club mileage.

Feel free to bring your strollers, family and friends as we hike this 3-mile round trip paved path.  Free parking is available at Ryan Bonaminio Park.  Directions to Ryan Bonaminio Park are posted below.  Don’t forget to bring  water and sunscreen! We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to the PTA members who came and casted their votes to approve the amended budget. Seneca Elementary PTA has a lot of fun activities in store and we can’t wait to start planning!

Thank you to all the families who participated in the Winter Wonderland holiday dance. Thank you to the parents and staff who volunteered their time to help make it a huge success. We hope you had a blast! Keep your eyes open for flyers about future dances and additional events planned for spring.

Running Club is still taking place every Friday afternoon from 3:05-3:20 pm. If you haven’t made it out to the fields yet, please stop by and get a few laps in. Walk with your child and help him/her earn their 100-Mile Club goals! Note: Running Club will not be held on minimum days.

100-Mile Club Runners! Are you interested in earning more miles outside of school? Seneca PTA plans to organize a hike to Mt. Rubidoux soon! More information to follow.

Mark your calendars! In February, Seneca Elementary PTA is organizing a Family Dinner Night fundraiser at Polly’s Pies. Bring the family and enjoy a nice meal out at Polly’s Pies. Seneca Elementary PTA will receive a portion of all sales during the event.

williamsCongratulations to Mrs. Williams’ class for winning the classroom chalk party for their participation in the Pennies from the Heart program during the 1st Trimester. Mrs. Williams’ class turned in 14 filled penny cans, which amounts to more than $120 in pennies! All pull tab totals and penny can counts have been reset for the 2nd trimester. Check the leaderboard in the MPR for current individual and grade level leaders. Keep up the great work and continue turning in those tabs and pennies!

Do you have one hour per month to dedicate to monthly meetings that will make a difference at Seneca? Consider joining Seneca PTA’s executive board and help make an impact at your child’s school. Seneca Elementary PTA has budgeted $10 per student for field trips this year. Teachers are excited to start planning. Thank you parents for your membership and participation in fundraising. Without your participation, Seneca students would not be able to gain the valuable knowledge and experiences these field trips provide.

snowflakeThank you to all the parents who came out to help with the Jump Rope for Heart event. The students had a blast keeping their heart rates up at each of the Jump Rope for Heart activity stations.

Running Club has officially begun! Students may run/walk the grassy field area and blacktop after school on Fridays with their families from 3:05-3:20 pm to earn credit towards their 100-Mile Club goals. Zina Alkhamaisi has volunteered to help supervise the event, and could use a few more watchful eyes. If you are interested in helping supervise please sign up on Volunteer Spot and Zina will be in contact with you. Bring the family and join the club! Let’s earn those miles and work towards developing healthier habits!

Holiday Shop is coming to Seneca! Students can preview items with their classes on December 11th and purchase holiday shop items from December 14-17th. If you’d like to help run the sales booth, please sign up on Volunteer Spot.

Seneca Elementary PTA is hosting a Winter Wonderland holiday dance the evening of December 11th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Dress in your nicest attire and dance the night away with your friends and family. PTA members will receive a FREE 4×6 photo during the event. PTA membership will also be available for purchase for $6 and will include a free 4×6 photo. Receive all the benefits of membership and join today! Concessions and spirit wear will also be sold during the event, so bring your money and/or credit cards. Seneca PTA now accepts credit!

The next PTA association meeting is scheduled for December 11th at 5 pm and will be held before the holiday dance begins. Come to the meeting and have your voice heard! An updated budget has been posted on the PTA bulletin in the front office. Please take a moment to review it before casting your vote at the association meeting. We look forward to seeing our PTA members’ show of support!

Lunch with the Principal at Shakey’s has returned to a monthly schedule. If your child has been awarded and you would like to chaperone the event, please make sure to turn in the parent volunteer form and bus waiver with your child’s permission slip.

Target’s Take Charge of Education program will end in May 2016. After this date, Seneca will no longer receive 1% donations. In the meantime, be sure to designate Seneca as your school of choice through your REDcard account and help Seneca earn 1% of total purchases throughout the holiday season!

Keep up the good work with turning in BoxTops, pennies and pull-tabs. Seneca students and families are doing great work in their community! What a wonderful way to give back!

Winter break begins December 21st and ends January 8th. Students return to school January 11, 2016. Have a safe and happy winter break. See you in 2016!
